35th PRIDE OF POLAND Sale
Janów Podlaski, August 15th, 2004

The contents of the jubilee Sale Catalogue, belonging to the 35th Pride of Poland Auction, electrified international horse lovers from the moment the publication left the printing machine. The buyer's choice was "limited" to 27 mares, yet this exceptional lot of horses, offered especially for this occasion by the State Studs, was enough to leave anyone in awe. Among the many guests who strongly than ever attended the Arabian Horse Days thanks to the WAHO (World Arabian Horse Organization) Congress in Warsaw, were many new clients trying their luck in the auction for the first time. And there was a lot to fight over, since such a configuration of stars does not happen too often. Representing Polish colors for the final time the public witnessed European Champion ESKALOPKA (140 thousand) and Race Horse of the Year SAVVANNAH (135 thousand) being bought for Sheikhs from the United Arab Emirates. The Western Hemisphere became a new home to Polish Champion EKSCELLA (120 thousand, USA), ANEGDOTA (70 thousand, Argentina) and this year's Reserve Champion Stallion EPIKRATES - sold to Brazil for 35 thousand at the Silent Sale. But the turning point of the auction was definitely the lively bidding for PALESTYNA, which resulted in a record high of 300 thousand. This gave the numerous amount of American buyers a nudge to buy yet another 7 mares, which boosted the outcome to a highly respectful result of 1,272,000 EUR (including the Silent Sale: 112,500 EUR).

The State Studs assembled an extraordinary collection of offerings for the 35th Anniversary of the Annual Auction, held in conjunction this year with the WAHO conference.

Topping the list of world-class mares is racing superstar SAVVANNAH from Janów Podlaski, a daughter of racing phonemes Monarch AH and Sarmacja, winner of 10 Stakes races in Polandincluding the Europa Cup, Oaks and Criterium. Remarkably, she is the most recent Oaks and Criterium winner of six successive generations of record-breaking females from the family of Sabellina; her sire Monarch adds yet another cross to the Triple Crown Winner making SAVVANNAH one of the most accomplished and well-bred race mares in recent racing history.

Michałów is offering three of its very best Monogramm daughters, topping the quality offered with high seller Embella (140.000 Euro) as well as Figlarka (105.000 Euro) in 2003. Each boasts an impeccable pedigree along with an enviable show record: ESKALOPKA - European Champion Mare, Polish National Reserve Champion Mare and World Top Ten Mare out of Polish National Champion Egzotyka; PALESTYNA - Polish National Top Five Mare and Class Winner at the All Nations Cup out of Middle East Champion Mare Palestra; and EKSCELLA - Polish National Champion Mare out of champion producer ESTANCJA, dam of European Reserve Champion and Polish National Junior Champion Mare Estarda.
